Focus:
The main focus of the study was on the human
resources management and public sector training in the South Asian
countries. The study also focused on - how training could be made more
effective and efficient on the level of programme planning and
curriculum design.
Findings:
The study results indicate that the training
programmes for top management in the South Asian public sectors have
their share of unsolved planning and design problems. The problem of
overloading and lack of content integration are also present. The time
allocation problem is less urgent and methods and strategies are neither
prominent.
However, the study reveals that the
external policy and administrative changes actually promise more than
what is achieved on the level of programme planning and curriculum
design. The results also indicate that the anchors of training tradition
lay heavily in the minds of planners and curriculum designers and act as
constraints of the modernisation of training programmes, and their
curricula.
